Marquette Douglas Fir Timbers - Product Info
These 12x12 Douglas Fir timbers spent the first half of their life as a Wisconsin Central ore dock on Lake Superior. Day after day, hopper cars ran on its rails out over the water to dump iron ore into the Lakers (large ore carrying freights which ply the Great Lakes). As the steel industry declined, the ore dock was used less and was eventually replaced. The timbers are still solid and sound and bear the evidence of their former life.
