Trestlewood II (Salty Fir) Weathered Timbers

Trestlewood's flagship salvage project (and the source of our name!) was the Lucin Cutoff Railroad Trestle that once spanned Utah's Great Salt Lake.

One question we are often asked is: "Are you all out of the trestle wood?" The resounding answer is: No! :-) While certain products and sizes are more readily available than others, we still have over 1.7 MILLION board feet of our Trestlewood II Salty Fir in inventory.

TWII Weathered Timbers and Lumber and TWII Resawn Finished Mantel - Colorado
Historically, one of the most popular Trestlewood II products has been the timbers resawn from the trestle piling.

With the passage of time, many of these circle-sawn timbers now have a beautifully weathered patina.

While Trestlewood II Weathered Timbers are available in a wide range of sizes, there are a handful of "sweet spot" dimensions in which we are especially well stocked. Click on any of the following to see some examples of Trestlewood II Timbers in the listed size:

6x10, 6x12, 8x10, 8x12, 10x10, 10x12, 12x12

All of these dimensions have large quantities up to 20' in length; most have good quantities to 24' in length, with a handful of pieces even longer.

Because of the decades the trestle piling spent in the Great Salt Lake, Trestlewood II products certainly have some unique characteristics. We don't call it "Salty Fir" for nothing! When designing projects for Trestlewood II, be sure to carefully read and take into consideration the related Specification Sheet and TWII Features and Issues documents.

Please CONTACT US any time if you have questions about these timbers or any of our reclaimed or other distinctive wood products.
