The rows above and below the middle row have 7 lf of Thins; the rows above and below that 6 lf of Thins, etc. In total, then, the installation involves 8 + 7(2) + 6(2) + 5(2) + 4(2) + 3(2) + 2(2) + 1(2) = 64 lf of Thins. 64 x 5/12 = 26.67 sf.
